On Netflix, the show titled “The Recruit” finds itself in an uncertain position regarding its continuation, having run for two successful seasons on their streaming service. The most recent installment of episodes was made available in January 2025, and since the series concluded with a suspenseful cliffhanger, viewers have been eagerly waiting for news about a potential third season.
The program made its comeback during a crowded January lineup, sharing space with titles such as The Night Agent and XO, Kitty. Notably, The Night Agent, similar to The Recruit in genre, drew in a much larger viewership. In the case of XO, Kitty, Noah Centineo once again took on his beloved character Peter Kavinsky from the widely-loved To All the Boys series.
It’s unlikely that The Recruit will be back for a third season since it didn’t get a two-season renewal following its debut, unlike other shows. To keep going, the show needs to increase its audience numbers significantly if it hopes to continue airing on the platform.
During an interaction with Deadline, the show’s producer, Alexi Hawley, spoke about the uncertain fate of the series on Netflix. He mentioned that there is a significant amount of goodwill towards the show and Noah Centineo within Netflix, as they view him as a homegrown talent, given his start in Netflix’s teen romantic comedies.
Compared to its first season, the number of viewers for the current season of the show has dropped, as indicated by statistics shared by media outlets. In fact, the initial episodes from Season 1 saw their highest viewership during the fourth week.
However, Season 2 has not been able to achieve the same number of viewers as the first season.
In the storyline, an emerging attorney at the CIA finds herself entangled in perilous global politics as a previous agent blackmails them over their connection, demanding they exonerate her name.
In the series, you’ll find Fivel Stewart, Laura Haddock, Maddie Hasson, and Kaylah Zander – these talented individuals teamed up with Centineo not just for one season, but for two!
