Lynne Marie Stewart, famously recognized as Miss Yvonne from Pee-wee’s Playhouse, passed away at the age of 78. The sad news was officially confirmed by one of Stewart’s friends, Elvira Peterson, who announced it on her Instagram on February 21st. “My heart is heavy with sorrow upon learning about my dearest friend,” she wrote in her post.
Peterson warmly recalled her friend, referring to her as the kindest and most amusing person she had ever crossed paths with. In reference to Stewart’s beloved character on Pee-wee’s Playhouse, she affectionately labeled her as the most enchanting lady of the magical land of Puppetland, a fantastical playhouse featured in the popular children’s television series.
From 1986 to 1990, she portrayed a cherished character on a children’s program. Afterward, she made appearances in various Pee-wee productions such as “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” (1985) and “Big Top Pee-wee” (1988). According to Extra, the deceased actress, who hailed from Los Angeles, was a member of the Groundlings improv troupe in the 1970s.
That’s where she encountered her fellow Pee-wee’s Playhouse cast member and show architect Paul Reubens, who unfortunately passed away in July 2023. She first appeared on the big screen in the 1971 movie Drive, She Said. Among her most significant roles are American Graffiti, Laverne & Shirley, M*A*S*H, Life with Louie, and Arrested Development.
As per IMDb, her latest role was on the TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” airing from 2005 to 2023. On this popular sitcom, she skillfully played the character of Bonnie, Charlie Kenny’s mom.
Learning about Stewart’s heartbreaking passing, numerous friends and peers offered their condolences to the iconic actress. Among them was her previous co-star, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, who shared fond memories of the actress as someone both charming and humorous on her Instagram post.
