ABC has revealed that the latest installment of their successful first-responder drama series, titled “9-1-1: Nashville,” is set to premiere during the 2025-26 TV season. This spinoff continues the success of previous shows in the franchise, “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star,” marking the third series in the franchise.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m excited to share that, following credible reports from Deadline, I can confirm that the upcoming series 9-1-1: Nashville is set to be executive-produced and written by none other than the franchise co-creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear. Additionally, Rashad Raisani, the showrunner of 9-1-1: Lone Star, will also lend his expertise to this spin-off. The original co-creator Brad Falchuk, along with star Angela Bassett, will also take on executive producer roles for this series. ABC has made a bold move by directly ordering the spin-off show into production, effectively skipping the traditional pilot process and speeding up the production timeline.
The TV series titled “Lone Star,” starring Rob Lowe and Gina Torres, was terminated in September 2024 following a run of five successful seasons. Its final episode was broadcast on February 3.
Bob Rains, head of Tennessee Entertainment Commission, showed great enthusiasm for the upcoming show. He expressed that local authorities are eager for the production to take place. Principal filming is set to start in May. Moreover, he mentioned that the show would generate sustainable job opportunities and inject funds into the local economy over time.
In simpler terms, Rains shared with The Tennessean that the team strongly believed Nashville was the ideal location for the upcoming show, following Austin. They have had very positive discussions and collaborations with the Visitors and Convention Corporation, as well as the mayor’s office, in this regard.
Nashville,” it also serves as an effective promotional tool for tourism.
According to Variety, Murphy and Minear were searching for a fresh spinoff after the termination of 9-1-1: Lone Star. In October 2024, Murphy declared that financial complications made it impractical to keep Lone Star airing on Fox. Previously, the franchise had considered possibilities such as Las Vegas and Hawaii, but ultimately chose Nashville, taking advantage of proposed tax incentives.
The details about the cast and storyline are still kept secret, but it’s said that the upcoming series will focus on the professional and personal lives of a group of emergency responders based in Tennessee. Mimicking the trademark blend of intense action scenes and emotional human stories, this show is expected to continue the franchise’s legacy.
The classic TV show “9-1-1” continues to be a regular feature on ABC, with its eighth season being broadcast every Thursday at 8 PM Eastern Time. Additionally, enthusiasts can catch up on both “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” via Hulu streaming service.
