In the game Avowed, distinctive armor sets, boots, and gloves will be scattered throughout its four primary areas: Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks, which are spread across the Living Lands. These unique armors come in three main categories: light, medium, and heavy. The type of armor that best fits your gameplay, abilities, and character build will depend on these factors. As a lover of pure Ranger builds, I usually go for a light armor set, and there’s no shortage of options as you advance on the Envoy’s adventure. Additionally, gloves and boots in Avowed come with unique attributes that can enhance your armor choice in various ways.

In the vast Living Lands, unique armor sets and clothing pieces can be obtained through treasure map side quests, defeating strong opponents, or as rewards for main missions, among various methods. The armor in this game is reminiscent of weapon upgrades found in ‘Avowed’, but it cannot be re-enchanted like its counterpart. Conversely, clothing items cannot be upgraded nor enchanted.

In the game ‘Avowed’, the initial significant region is Dawnshore, which offers several distinctive armor choices, ensuring variety during your early journey through the Living Lands. One of these unique armors is the Arcanist’s Gambeson, a light armor discovered at the Yellowband Camp while completing the related bounty. This armor enhances Area of Effect (AoE) damage by 10% and offers a bonus of +20 Maximum Essence. Another unique armor, the Blackwing Armor, is also a light armor, but it can only be obtained if you choose to defeat Ygwulf, the assassin who attempted to harm you upon entering Paradis for the first time.

In the second main location of the game Avowed, known as Emerald Stair, one outstanding early armor set particularly suited for a Ranger build can be discovered. This armor set is the Vailian gear, designed for lightweight builds. I found this set to be my preferred choice for a significant part of Emerald Stair and even extending into Shatterscarp. The Vailian set comprises the Vailian Boots, Vailian Breastplate, and Vailian Gauntlets. Each item offers unique Dexterity-based advantages; for instance, the gloves enhance parry efficiency and damage with swords and daggers. For enhanced elemental resistance, a necessity as you progress through Emerald Stair, make sure to complete the treasure hunt called Practical Pockets for Hjilde’s Handy Hide.

Necropants Provides Excellent Poison Resistance

Upon reaching Shatterscarp, you’ll find several new armor options to discover. Among them is the Necropants, one of the game’s top items for poison resistance in Avowed. These pants have a unique feature: they summon a “Spectral Slave” that fights by your side during combat, targeting enemies automatically. For tankier characters, the Thirdborn Brigandine Jack offers a +25 increase in carrying capacity and also restores health when you’re wet. As an alternative for a more defensive build, the Skald’s Brigandine armor is also highly beneficial. It boosts Stamina by 20% and restores health when your companions are downed. You can obtain this armor, along with other impressive gear, at the Pargrun Cache in Shatterscarp.

Galawain’s Tusks

In the last region of the game “Avowed”, you’ll encounter Galawain’s Tusks, where some top-tier armor is available. You can buy two pieces of this armor, Faith and Conviction, along with Gauntlets of Devotion, straight from Forgemaster Dela at Abydon’s Forge once you reach Solace Keep. Personally, I’m fond of the Helwalker’s Vestments armor, which can be discovered at the Galawain Shrine.

This armor significantly reduces damage resistance, but the higher chance of critical hits causing more damage makes it perfect for a stealth-focused character. The lava-tempered plate can be found atop Mt. Forja Summit and is somewhat difficult to find, but it boasts extremely high fire resistance and emits fire damage when struck by a melee attack.
