In the course of playing Avowed, you encounter various Companion characters who can be enlisted to your team. They contribute in fights, provide guidance during conversations, and offer assistance throughout the game. Although you can’t personally modify the appearance of Companions in Avowed, you can swap their outfits among a few options, provided you have unlocked them.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to acquire Companion outfits in Avowed, as well as how to switch skins among the three choices available. Whether you own the Standard or Premium version of the game, this guide will help you understand the process.

How To Unlock Alternate Companion Outfits In Avowed

To get the Companion costumes, it’s necessary to obtain the Avowed Premium Edition. This enhanced version of Avowed comes with numerous in-game perks, such as two costumes for each Companion.

As a player, upon launching the game, I’ll have instant access to these features without any in-game requirements other than reaching the stage where I can customize my Companion’s outfits.

In isolation, the Avowed Premium Edition retails for $90. But for those playing Avowed through Xbox Game Pass, upgrading will only cost you $25. However, it’s important to note that this Game Pass upgrade doesn’t come with access to the base game if Avowed is ever taken off the Game Pass library.

How To Change Companion Outfits In Avowed

To switch out Companion outfits, confirmed players need to establish a Camp first. Once you’ve finished the tutorial zone and have Kai join your group upon arriving at Dawnshore, follow the northern path from the port. You’ll find the Ivona’s Threshold Adra Stone there. Activate this stone to initiate your initial Party Camp setup.

In the game ‘Avowed’, any discovered Adra Stone can serve two purposes: either by engaging with it or after it’s been unlocked, you can quickly travel to establish a camp for your party.

At the campsite, search for a tent situated to the right side of the Adra Stone. The entrance to this tent will be marked by a tiny symbol that looks like a piece of clothing.

  • If you have Avowed Premium Edition, swap Companion outfits as you see fit by interacting with this tent.
  • If you have the Standard edition of the game, you will be able to see the Companion Outfit Tent and open the menu, but only the default skin will be available.

Each companion has a selection of three outfits to choose from: the standard outfit that all players initially use, the Eora costume, and the Obsidian costume.

This way, it’s more clear and easy for readers to understand the options available for the companions.

After you’ve finished selecting, feel free to leave the menu and stroll over to your friends at the campsite. They will already be sporting their fresh outfits! This change isn’t permanent – you can switch your Companions’ appearances in Avowed whenever you’re in camp by visiting the Companion Outfit tent again.
