The upcoming crossover between Magic/Final Fantasy will offer a playable and tournament-legal expansion set, complete with four pre-made decks displayed in the gallery above. This set comprises 100 cards, which include reprinted cards, new artwork inspired by Final Fantasy, and cards specifically designed for Magic’s popular Commander format. Each of the preconstructed Commander decks will be centered around a single Final Fantasy game, such as Final Fantasy VI, VII, X, and XIV in this instance. The unveiled cards feature characters like Terra from Final Fantasy VI, Tidus from Final Fantasy X, Y’shtola from Final Fantasy XIV, and Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. Although the Commander Decks focus on only four games, the rest of the set will encompass all 16 Final Fantasy titles.
Special features include the following:
In this collection, you’ll encounter Summoned Beings for the very first time in Magic: The Gathering‘s Saga creatures. These Summoned Beings can be invoked to support players during combat.
In Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy, there are cards that have two different faces. By meeting the card’s conditions and paying its mana cost on the front side, players can flip it over to reveal a new form. Throughout the game, you’ll find various iconic Final Fantasy characters, minigames, story segments, and more represented on these double-faced cards.
The Magic: The Gathering/Final Fantasy crossover launches June 13.
