In every game developed by FromSoftware, there’s been a built-in aspect of multiplayer gaming. Elden Ring: Nightreign continues this trend, and it’s a wish come true for many pairs, as they can now play together. Here are the latest insights into Nightreign’s mechanics for forming parties.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, created by the imaginative team at FromSoftware, offers a refreshing twist compared to their previous works. It’s not that their past projects were poor in any way, quite the contrary—but Nightreign presents a unique vibe. The leisurely exploration found in Elden Ring, Sekiro, and Bloodborne has been swapped for intense combat and a relentless pursuit of clearing bosses and leveling up as swiftly as possible.
In a standard lobby, it’s usually a team of three working together against tough opponents. However, I’d like to explore the possibility of playing Nightreign with only two players, or even solo.
Is Elden Ring Nightreign Two Player?
Elden Ring Nightreign currently doesn’t permit you to play with two players.
From the results of the Network Test, it appears that Nightreign may have great potential. Yet, this testing also revealed that Nightreign would work best as part of a trio. This recommendation is made by our game director, Junya Ishizaki.
He shared that they opted for a three-person approach because they aimed to preserve the satisfying feeling of overcoming challenges like defeating a boss as a team or mastering a map collectively. However, they wanted to reimagine this experience in a new and exciting manner.
Will Elden Ring Nightreign Add a Two Player Mode?
According to Junya Ishizaki, although the recent Network Test didn’t support two-player teams, FromSoftware might enable this feature in the future.
Ishizaki mentioned that while we’ve thought about incorporating a mode with only two players instead of three or solo, it hasn’t been added to the game yet.
In simpler terms, while you can ask a friend to join and start playing Nightreign together, there’s an additional step where another player is required to form a match. If this third player exits the game for any reason, you and your friend will end up facing off against other teams as a duo instead!
We’re yet to approach the final release of Nightreign, so it remains to be seen if FromSoftware might reconsider their plans closer to the expected launch date.
Can You Play Elden Ring Nightreign Solo?
Yes, Elden Ring Nightreign can be played Solo if you’re not up to having partners.
Despite being a game designed for two players, Solo mode is available. However, playing Nightreign solo might not be the wisest choice or even possible, so be cautious as you explore The Lands Between.
Are you concerned about purchasing Elden Ring Nightreign if it lacks a two-player mode at launch, or do you feel confident enough to conquer the Nights by yourself?
Don’t worry if you couldn’t participate in the first trial sessions for Nightreign, as additional opportunities for engagement in future trials might become available.
