Guy Pearce Recalls Horrifying Encounters With Kevin Spacey While Filming L.A. Confidential: ‘Only Days I Feel Safe…’

More recently, Guy Pearce shared the emotional turmoil he experienced during the production of L.A. Confidential alongside Kevin Spacey. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg, the Memento star revealed the mistreatment he endured at the hands of Spacey.

Speaking about Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce noted that while he didn’t experience sexual assault or molestation, there were instances where he felt uneasy. He further shared that when such situations arose, he dealt with them appropriately.

According to THR, Pearce is currently open for interviews, but he carefully selects his words and does not refer to himself as a victim, although he acknowledges that he was affected to some extent. “I was in no way a victim like other people have been at the hands of sexual predators,” the actor from Iron Man 3 clarified further.

On the film set, Pearce recounts his response to Spacey’s alleged advances as one of indifference, viewing them as insignificant. He also clarified that this behavior continued for approximately five months, a period which left him feeling increasingly apprehensive due to Spacey’s assertive nature, being well-known for his aggressive personality.

Perace remarked that despite Kevin Spacey’s charisma and intellect, he singled out the younger actor on set, who happened to be just 21 years old.

While filming, Pearce was accompanied by his then-spouse Kate. Reflecting back, the actor remembered sharing with her that “the days I feel secure are those when [Simon Baker] is on set since I’m quickly discarded like a heated pot, and Kevin pays more attention to [Simon], as he was significantly more attractive than me.

LA Confidential features Russell Crowe joined by Pearce and Spacey, who portray characters as Los Angeles police officers in Curtis Hanson’s neo-noir movie.
