As Daredevil: Born Again approaches swiftly, Tatiana Maslany is posed with the question regarding her potential portrayal of a more serious She-Hulk character.
I was disappointed to hear that She-Hulk, as I know her, won’t be part of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. It’s unfortunate that they aren’t acknowledging Charlie Cox’s portrayal in She-Hulk, a show that, regrettably, didn’t resonate well with fans due to its light-hearted approach to the character. This decision seems disrespectful to the fandom and the established lore. I was hoping for a second season, but it looks like it won’t happen.
So with the goofy She-Hulk not working, how about the opposite approach?
What did Tatiana Maslany say about She-Hulk?
During discussions about her newest venture, “The Monkey”, Tatiana Maslany was queried by Ebaster regarding their decision to overlook her series in “Daredevil: Born Again” and whether she’d consider joining the program.
Maslany replied, “Could I be reborn? Absolutely, he was an amazing individual. He was incredibly entertaining, just like someone you’d love to play with. What he did exceptionally well was transform a character from another tone into one that fit this new atmosphere, all while preserving the character’s essence, which was quite amusing. It was fascinating to watch him interact with this more light-hearted world.
As a dedicated movie critic, I wholeheartedly concur with the suggestion that She-Hulk could seamlessly integrate into the grittier world of Daredevil: Born Again. In fact, should the opportunity arise for Tatiana Maslany to bring this character to life in such a more serious setting, I eagerly anticipate the depth and nuance she would undoubtedly bring to the role.
“I agree,” she responded. “I have a serious, well, I have a lot of serious bones in my body.”
Daredevil showrunner addresses She-Hulk
As for the highly anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again” and “She-Hulk”, showrunner Dario Scardapane shared that these projects won’t be referencing or delving into the one-night stand aspect of the storyline. Instead, they will focus on crafting unique narratives for each character.
In simpler terms, “I have a lot of flexibility in my storytelling until I reach the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) plan. Therefore, I tend to focus on certain aspects and overlook others from the larger universe. We’ve carefully crafted Daredevil within the MCU, focusing on his struggles, his costume, and his current life situation. While it is acknowledged that Daredevil exists in the MCU, other events like those involving Spider-Man and She-Hulk are not the primary focus. One such event might be Daredevil’s one-night stand with She-Hulk.
Future of She-Hulk in the MCU
Concerning She-Hulk’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems unlikely that Tatiana Maslany will be performing any twerking scenes in the near future. The upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” has been revised to distance itself from the lighter tone of She-Hulk and align more closely with its Netflix predecessor. In fact, the showrunner himself has stated that it will be more violent than the original show.
Daredevil: Born Again premiers on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
