Robert Pattinson is known for taking an unusual approach to getting ready for roles, which often puzzles people who are familiar with him.
At the world premiere of Mickey 17 in London on February 13th, the 38-year-old actor openly acknowledged that his method of getting into character often perplexes his family and friends. He has disclosed that he frequently experiments with different behaviors and voices, occasionally adopting unexpected accents, which leaves those close to him questioning his choices.
According to Pattinson, he spends a significant amount of time roaming about, more like refining skills instead of learning new characters. This seems to bother the people surrounding him, he shared with People.
The actor from Batman casually mentioned that he frequently encounters queries such as, “Why do you talk as if you’re a cab driver with a German accent?” or “Why does your speech sound like a German taxi driver’s?
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can attest that, despite its non-traditional approach, working on Mickey 17 was hands down one of the smoothest and most enjoyable productions I’ve been part of. In fact, I’d go as far as saying it ranks among the kindest, easiest shoots I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my career.
Despite finding his own work on set relatively simple, he recognized that the complexities of the movie’s production posed significant challenges for the rest of the crew.
The Twilight alum added, “I think it was really complicated for everybody else. It’s easy for me.”
In simple terms, the upcoming sci-fi film by Bong Joon Ho features Mickey Barnes, portrayed by Pattinson, whose job entails his death and subsequent cloning multiple times.
As a dedicated admirer of Bong’s movies for quite some time, Pattinson felt an immediate pull towards the project upon reading the script. In April 2024, at CinemaCon, Pattinson publicly applauded the Parasite director, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. He expressed his deep admiration for Bong, stating, “For a long time now, he’s been my idol, my role model.
According to Edward Ashton’s novel, Mickey 7, the upcoming sci-fi film directed by Bong Joon Ho will star Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Pattinson. The movie, titled Mickey 17, is set to hit theaters on March 7th.
