Today, we mourn the loss of actor Kevyn Major Howard, who passed away at the age of 69 as reported by Deadline. Notably, he played a role in the film “Full Metal Jacket,” directed by Stanley Kubrick.
According to a report from TMZ, the actor passed away this past Friday at a Las Vegas hospital in the presence of his family members. The exact cause of his death remains unknown as of now. Previously, the actor had been hospitalized due to complications with his respiratory system for several weeks.
Born in Montreal, Quebec on January 27, 1956, Howard later relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his love for acting. Beyond his role in the previously mentioned project, he’s captivated audiences with numerous others.
Among his significant achievements are his projects in both television and cinema, such as Cagney & Lacey, The Outsiders, Magnum P.I., War Party, Sudden Impact, MacGyver, Route 66, The A-Team, Crusade, Death Wish II, Alien Nation, and numerous others.
On his social media platform (X account), Matthew Modie, who was both a co-star and friend, posted a tribute to the deceased star. The photo he shared was behind-the-scenes from the 1987 movie they worked on together, also featuring Gary Landon Mills, Adam Baldwin, and Sal Lopez.
He wrote, “Kevyn Major Howard consistently offered so much to the world, particularly to the men and women serving in our military.” Moreover, it’s worth noting that the late actor gained prominence for his role as Raftman in Kubrick’s film, and this role granted him a distinctive connection with the United States Marine Corps.
The seasoned actor persisted, explaining how it led to his “long-term commitment to serve our bravest heroes for decades. I appreciate your selflessness and devotion to others and America. May all the deities watch over you Kevyn. Farewell. #Always Faithful.
