Kodansha, a well-known manga publisher, is planning to release two more deluxe editions of “Vinland Saga” later in the year. The seventh deluxe edition is scheduled for May 6th and costs $49.50, while the eighth deluxe edition will be available on August 5th for $55. If you’re interested, preorders are currently being accepted on Amazon.
Similar to the past Deluxe Editions, these books are larger than typical manga, measuring approximately 7 x 10 inches, and contain roughly 600 pages each. They also feature unique sketches and drafts created by Makoto Yukimura that are not found in other versions.
Titled “Vinland Saga: Deluxe Edition Volume 7,” this edition encompasses volumes 19 to 21 and boasts a stylish, dark green cover embellished with Norse runes. As of now, it’s priced at $49.40 on Amazon, ahead of its May release.
The Deluxe Edition 8 includes volumes 22 to 24, concluding the Eastern Expedition storyline and initiating the Vinland saga. As of now, the cover design is still under wraps, but it’ll maintain the sleek, leather-bound aesthetic from earlier releases. Preorders are now available for $55.
Initially published in 2005, “Vinland Saga” delves into the life of Thorfinn, a young warrior who is on a quest for vengeance against Askeladd, the one responsible for his father’s death. Initially, it presents as a gruesome tale of war, but it gradually unfolds deeper topics such as revenge, strife, and redemption, particularly in the Slave arc. Over time, Yukimura’s intricate artwork and historical authenticity have garnered acclaim from critics.
