In the extra scene after the credits for “Captain America: Brave New World,” we find Sam Wilson at the notorious supervillain prison, the Raft. He’s visiting Samuel Sterns (played by Tim Blake Nelson), who in Marvel Comics is known as the Leader. With a unique ability to foresee future events, the Leader has visions of various scenarios unfolding, including an impending Multiversal War that will undoubtedly be depicted in “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Here’s what Sterns warned Captain America about:
Brave New World,” we see Sam Wilson visiting Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), a villain known as the Leader in Marvel Comics, at the Raft. With the ability to foresee future events, he has visions of a Multiversal War that will likely be shown in “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Here’s what he told Captain America about:
To all the champions safeguarding our realm, do you believe yourselves to be unique in this role? Could it be that there are other worlds as well? Prepare for an unexpected challenge when it comes to defending this space… from those who come from elsewhere.
It seems you’re asking about the nature of these “other worlds” in the context of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). If we follow Kevin Feige closely, he might stick to the comics, particularly Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Wars from 2015. In this storyline, an event called the Incursion occurred when the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) attempted to eliminate the classic Marvel Universe (Earth-616) for its own survival. Samuel Sterns’ remark about other worlds implies that a similar event might happen in the MCU. The question remains, which alternate Earth or timeline is heading towards ours? We have several theories.
Earth-1005 (Fox X-Men Earth)
In the timeline commonly known as the X-Men series from Fox films, the Earth was last depicted in Deadpool & Wolverine, where they thwarted Cassandra Nova’s plot to destroy it. The cast remains intact, including Deadpool and presumably the X-Men, at least until Charles Xavier inadvertently causes the demise of many of his students, as portrayed in Logan. This event occurs before the events of Logan (set in 2029), but after the ending scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which presents a bustling and populated Xavier School with all our beloved X-Men alive in 2023.
Previously, we’ve hypothesized that this is the Earth where Monica Rambeau eventually landed following the events of The Marvels. In the closing scene of that movie, Monica was seen in Xavier’s Mansion’s medical bay, alongside Beast (played by Kelsey Grammer) and her mother, Maria. It seems plausible that this world, known as Earth-1005, may be on a mission to obliterate Earth 616 in order to safeguard itself and its massive population. This scenario could lead to the iconic X-Men from the Fox movie engaging in battles with the Avengers when the apocalyptic event Doomsday arrives.
The Fantastic Four Earth
On the hypothetical Earth where the new Fantastic Four dwell, it remains unclear if Galactus’ arrival and subsequent events will cause its destruction. However, given Reed Richards’ (Pedro Pascal) past actions in the comics, one could speculate that he might be prepared to sacrifice Earth-616 to save the lives of his people. This possibility is not far-fetched for the movies as well. For now, we know the Fantastic Four inhabit this Earth, but it’s feasible that there exist other superpowered beings on their world too. Possibilities include a retro-future Avengers team or even another iteration of the X-Men. These heroes might also be willing to risk the destruction of the Sacred Timeline’s Earth to safeguard their own realm.
Doctor Doom’s Earth
It’s still unclear which Earth Dr. Doom hails from, but his resemblance to RDJ’s Tony Stark suggests he isn’t from Earth-616. If he exists in a separate universe or timeline (which appears plausible), he might be planning an attack on Earth-616 to protect his own world. The upcoming Avengers movie, “Avengers: Doomsday,” seems to hint at this possibility. It’s also speculated that he could share the same Earth as the Fantastic Four, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.
The Spider-Man (Sam Raimi Films) Earth
This Earth we inhabit is the most familiar to us, but there’s another one that exists somewhere out there. In the Spider-Man universe created by Sam Raimi, only one superhero, Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire), has been identified so far. When the Spider-Man from Earth-616 mentioned the Avengers to him, Peter didn’t seem to recognize them. However, it’s been quite a while since we last visited that universe, in 2007’s Spider-Man 3. Perhaps there are other spider-related heroes on that Earth or alternative versions of Marvel characters yet to be explored? If they do exist, they might join forces to prevent their universe from disappearing. But who can say for sure? The Multiverse, being infinite, is full of possibilities we’ve never imagined before.
