In Avengers: Endgame (released in 2019), Anthony Mackie won many hearts with just one line, “On your left.” This character development began in 2014 and a decade later, he’s moving from being on the left alongside Steve Rogers to taking center stage in Captain America: Brave New World. This film is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
Mackie’s transformation from sidekick to symbol in the Marvel universe started with Avengers: Endgame when the aging Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, selected Anthony Mackie as his successor and passed on his famous shield. Prior to this, in 2014, Mackie joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson, a noble war veteran who later soared through the skies as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
In his high-flying adventures, Falcon showcased his mechanical wings and exceptional fighting techniques, eventually becoming Steve’s most reliable ally in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and quickly gaining popularity among fans. Over time, he engaged in battles alongside the Avengers and even clashed with some of them (Team Cap), ultimately cementing his reputation as a remarkable hero.
In the 2021 series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam, demonstrated his strong moral compass and leadership skills by stepping into the limelight once more alongside Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. The narrative explored Sam’s personal struggle with the significant burden of the vibranium shield and the societal consequences of becoming the new Black Captain America.
By the finale, Sam had fully accepted his fresh responsibilities, donning a suit that blended Falcon’s wings and Captain America’s shield. This transformation wasn’t just about assuming a superhero alias; it was about preserving a tradition.
Ever since I made my debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the 8 Mile actor, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of some incredible projects such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios: Assembled, and What If…? It’s been an exhilarating journey that culminates in my very own standalone movie.
In February 2025, you’ll find Anthony Mackie’s Captain America: Brave New World movie pitting Sam Wilson against President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford, in a confrontation that will be shown in cinemas nationwide on Valentine’s Day.
