Resurrection” brings back the beloved character, Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, from the dead. Fans are intrigued to learn how much more of his story awaits us. The previous series, “Dexter: New Blood,” generated a lot of debate with its surprising ending, and this upcoming series aims to rectify that and further explore Dexter’s legacy. However, will it be a standalone series or could it potentially lead to more?
How Many Episodes Will Dexter: Resurrection Have?
As per a recent announcement, the upcoming series “Dexter: Resurrection” will comprise of ten installments. This news also confirmed that Peter Dinklage will play the antagonist in the show. Notably, Marcos Siega, who has directed for “Dexter: New Blood,” is set to oversee six episodes, while Monica Raymund, previously associated with “Dexter: Original Sin,” will direct the remaining four. Since both “New Blood” and “Original Sin” had a similar structure of ten episodes each, it seems that Showtime intends to maintain this format for “Resurrection.
Although the exact release date is yet to be revealed, showrunner Clyde Phillips hinted in December that the series might debut in June. Few details about the plot have been disclosed, but rumors point towards the story resuming with Dexter waking up in an Iron Lake hospital and eventually heading to New York City in pursuit of his son, Harrison. With Dexter’s secrets now out in the open—and his own son being the one who supposedly killed him—the series promises a thrilling, unforeseeable adventure.
Could Dexter: Resurrection Have Multiple Seasons?
Contrasting Dexter: New Blood, rumored to be a one-off event, it appears that Dexter: Resurrection is being crafted with multiple seasons in mind, according to reports. Though plans may alter, it seems that Showtime is keen on having Michael C. Hall reprise his role as the main character, rather than making Harrison the focal point. Initially, a second season of New Blood with Harrison as the lead was underway, but when Hall expressed a desire to return, Showtime decided to focus back on Dexter himself.
This upcoming summer, the revival of “Dexter” is set to debut simultaneously on Showtime and Paramount+. Fans eagerly anticipating the continuation of their favorite small-screen murderer won’t have to endure a prolonged wait.
