Season 6 of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the critically acclaimed Hulu series, is nearing its end as it has completed filming its last season. Actors Amanda Brugel and O.T. Fagbenle announced this news on their respective social media platforms.
Brugel and Fagbenle shared glimpses into the final days of filming, offering a sneak peek behind the scenes. Brugel, portraying Rita, posted a compilation video of her fellow cast and crew celebrating the achievement. Reflecting on her time in the series, which is adapted from Margaret Atwood’s novel, she expressed gratitude for the friendships and memories formed. However, what stood out most to her was the opportunity to dance with everyone involved.
In her Instagram post, she shared: “In the future, if you inquire about our past, I will tell you about my personal emancipation from a life that wasn’t beneficial to me. I will also recount the laughter we shared, our hand-holding moments with Margaret, but above all, I will always remember our dancing together. This is what love does.
Originally penned by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale was released in 2017 and quickly captured cultural attention. Set in a future America after a civil war, the show explores the difficult life of women forced into servitude as surrogate mothers.
Over the course of five seasons, the program has earned itself 15 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes, establishing it as a timeless television landmark.
At this point, we haven’t been given any insights about the final season’s plot. Previously, our showrunner and main actress Elizabeth Moss suggested it would be extravagant and unpredictable, with plenty of jaw-dropping twists, according to TVLine.
Fagbenle, portraying Luke, posted a collection of images featuring his fellow cast members Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, Madeline Brewer, and O-T Faghani. He labeled the moment simply: “And that’s a wrap on the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale! It’ll be here soon! Any guesses as to what happens next?
You can currently stream seasons 1-5 of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu. Unfortunately, a release date for the final season hasn’t been revealed as of now.
