Actor Dave Bautista is slated to appear in the upcoming dystopian suspense movie “Dreadnought,” working once more with his directors from “Bushwick,” Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott. Production company Thunder Road, famous for the “John Wick” series, is producing this film, while WME Independent will take care of sales during the European Film Market in Berlin.
The Plot
Joseph Greenberg’s novel, Dreadnought, revolves around the character of Max (portrayed by Bautista). After an alien species crash-lands on Earth, unleashing a lethal plague that claims the life of his wife and devastates humanity, Max’s life is left in ruins. As the remaining fragments of society learn to cohabit with these extraterrestrial intruders, Max yearns for more than mere survival.
In my own words, here’s how I’d rephrase it: My daughter, Greta, is gravely ill due to an alien ailment. As her health deteriorates, an enigmatic alien Sentinel appears at our doorstep. This ominous figure, shrouded in silence, seeks only one thing: to claim Greta’s body for an official alien metamorphosis ceremony, a practice endorsed by the authorities and widely accepted within society. However, I am not willing to let anything else be taken from me without a fight.
The Team Behind Dreadnought
The movie is being made by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee from Thunder Road, together with Jason Ross Jallet, Andrew Bronfman, and Jonathan Bronfman from Beyond The Frame. On the other hand, Bautista and Ashley Daniels are producing it under Dogbone Entertainment, while Noah Segal of Elevation Pictures is serving as an executive producer. Lastly, Marz VFX, well-known for their work on “The Creator,” will be responsible for the visual effects.
Basil Iwanyk expressed his excitement about the project to Deadline, saying, “Erica and I have been trying to work on a movie with Jon and Cary since we saw Bushwick. They’re able to generate intense tension, deliver amazing action sequences, and create a captivating universe without overspending. Thunder Road has had success with filmmakers like this in the past.
