Instead of continuing with her role in the regency drama, Simone Ashley has switched gears and will now appear in Prime Video‘s contemporary romance titled “Picture This.” In this new project, Ashley portrays Pia, a determined and independent young woman who is dedicated to growing her own business, despite persistent encouragement from her Indian mother for her to get married.
After a spiritual guru foretells that Pia will find the love of her life in the next five days, she begins to rethink her romantic situation. Ironically, she crosses paths with her former beau, Charlie (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), at a gathering – someone she’d rather keep out of her current life.
To get past the recent developments, Pia opts to attend a string of arranged dates suggested by her family. Based on the preview, her initial three outings involve a flat-earth believer, someone with an allergy mishap, and a man whose attempt to emulate Pia’s bone structure ends disastrously.
Following a string of unfortunate dating encounters, Pia could provide an opportunity for Charlie to reappear in her life while maintaining her defensive stance. The film will effectively blend comedy from her frustrating blind dates with the exploration of Pia’s romantic journey.
The opening scene shows Pia (Ashley) elegantly clad in a stunning saree, positioned behind a bar at an Indian wedding. Upon noticing Charlie among the attendees, she promptly requests two drinks from the bartender.
As her mother dangles the enchanting family heirloom jewelry, destined for me upon marriage, a thought stirs within me – “What if I choose not to marry? I’m weaving my own path; I don’t require a partner for that.” This is the defiant sentiment Ashley expresses in the preview.
Apart from the well-known stars of “Sex Education” and Fiennes Tiffin, the cast also features Sindhu Vee, Luke Fetherston, Phil Dunster, Adil Ray, Anoushka Chadha, Kulvinder Ghir, and several other talented actors.
Picture This will be released on Amazon Prime Video globally on March 6.
