As Sydney Sweeney, the beloved star recognized for my role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria, I recently shared insights into how the postponement of our series affected my professional journey.
I, Sydney Sweeney, discussed how the delay of Euphoria impacted my career.
After a break of three years, the popular TV show on HBO is scheduled to resume filming in January 2025. In the interim, Sweeney had to rearrange her commitments, turning down certain acting opportunities and instead concentrating more on producing.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sweeney expressed her strong bond with the character of Cassie from Euphoria and shared her intentions to reprise the role. “Cassie holds such profound significance for me. I believe I can use her as a means to also cope with the loss of Angus Cloud,” she explained.
The delay in Euphoria’s filming caused Sweeney to turn down multiple projects because she believed she would be returning to Euphoria sooner.
But as the shooting schedule got repeatedly delayed, Sweeney found herself compelled to take control of the situation. “I had another movie lined up initially, but we faced clearance issues, and after a while, it became apparent that things weren’t moving forward. So, I geared up and embarked on the journey to create Anyone but You,” she explained.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I seized that unanticipated hiatus as an opportunity to pour my energy into film production, which ultimately bore fruit in the form of two remarkable projects: Anyone but You (2023) and Immaculate (2024). To my delight, these films resonated with audiences, garnering impressive box office success.
Her romantic comedy “Anyone but You” unexpectedly gained popularity, while her horror film “Immaculate” demonstrated her versatility by tackling various genres. During this phase of growth, Sweeney solidified her identity as both an acting talent and a production powerhouse.
