Although there’s been some positive signs regarding the continuation of Ted Lasso, its long-term prospects remain somewhat unclear. While fans eagerly anticipate a fourth season, production has not officially begun as of now.
A number of notable actors from the initial lineup, such as Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, are set to return for the upcoming season. Nevertheless, not all cast members have been officially confirmed at this time, with names like Jason Sudeikis (Ted), Juno Temple (Keeley), and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) yet to finalize their contracts. All of them belong to the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
Goldstein, who portrays Roy Kent on the series, recently hinted at what he’s most looking forward to in the potential upcoming season. When queried during a recent interview about his desires if the show is renewed, he expressed a wish to spend time with ‘Phoebe.’
Phoebe, portrayed by Elodie Blomfield, is Roy’s niece and their connection is a standout feature of the series. Although Roy comes across as hard-nosed and unyielding, his interaction with Phoebe is endearing and touching, offering a rich layer to his personality.
Despite the imminent start of production, fans of Ted Lasso are still left in anticipation as everything seems yet to fall into place, according to Goldstein’s statements. He confessed that the reality of the fourth season hasn’t set in yet, stating, ‘I don’t know. It hasn’t become real yet. I can’t answer that. I’ll let you know when I know.’ Thus, it appears we’ll need to exercise patience a bit longer for definite updates on the show.
