Changpeng Zhao, the man who once ruled the Binance kingdom, has spoken. The once mighty emperor, now a mere shadow of his former self, has deigned to address the growing murmurings amongst his subjects. He has stated, quite emphatically, that he has no involvement in the TST token’s sudden rise to fame. Yet, despite his denials, the rumors persist. This led to an impassioned plea from Zhao himself, in a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). 🐦

“I haven’t bought a single meme coin so far,” the post read.

Now, one might think that this would put the rumors to rest, but alas, it seems that even emperors cannot silence gossip. Zhao, ever the pragmatist, decided to take a different approach. He compared meme coins to other frivolous pursuits – like fancy cars, expensive art, and those nonsensical NFTs. “I don’t dabble in these things,” he proclaimed. “I am a man of substance, a builder of empires, not a collector of shiny baubles!” He then went on to say that while he doesn’t invest in these things, he has nothing against them. A classic case of “don’t hate the player, hate the game!” 😉

But wait, there’s more! Zhao also distanced himself from Binance’s decision-making process, claiming that he has no say in what tokens get listed. “Exchanges compete to list popular assets with high trading volumes,” he explained. “It’s a rat race, my friend, and we’re all just trying to survive!” 💀

Zhao, in a moment of self-awareness, even acknowledged that Binance’s listing process is a bit of a mess. “I think the Binance listing process is a bit broke,” he confessed. He explained that Binance announces a listing and then goes live just four hours later. “This short timeframe,” he lamented, “often causes token prices to surge on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) before traders take advantage of the increase by selling on centralized exchanges (CEXs).” He cautioned traders to be wary of this practice, but offered no solutions. It seems even emperors struggle with the complexities of the modern cryptocurrency world. 🤷‍♂️

When asked why investors are drawn to meme coins instead of utility tokens, Zhao offered his own theories. He pointed to the regulatory challenges facing utility tokens, suggesting that they are easy targets for lawsuits. “It’s safer to stick to meme coins,” he mused. “They’re like wild animals – unpredictable, dangerous, but oddly appealing.” 🐺
