New ‘Fantastic Four’ Details Leaked: Shalla-Bal’s Role, Galactus’ Plan, and a Mysterious 5th Dimension

Today, I couldn’t contain my excitement as the initial trailer for ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ was unveiled! Marvel enthusiasts everywhere are buzzing with anticipation. This trailer offers a glimpse into an intriguing alternate retro-futuristic universe, where we get our first peek at Ebon Moss-Bachrach transforming into the mighty Thing, Joseph Quinn igniting as the Human Torch, and Vanessa Kirby demonstrating her remarkable abilities as the Invisible Woman.

In a new role, Pedro Pascal is set to become Reed Richards, while Ralph Ineson has been cast as the formidable villain, Galactus, whom the team must confront.

The storyline of the film remains a secret, but through whispers and insider information, it’s become clear that Galactus is set to threaten their reality in some way linked to young Franklin Richards. This impending battle against the cosmic entity known as the world-devourer will be deeply personal for the team.

After watching the climactic scenes unfold, I must say that by the film’s conclusion, it appears the Marvel Cinematic Universe has successfully lured the Fantastic Four into their world on Earth-616. It seems like an inevitable interdimensional move for our favorite superhero quartet!

Currently, Alex Perez, an influential figure within the industry, has disclosed additional information about the storyline of the film.

In the upcoming film ‘First Steps’, it’s been disclosed that Shalla-Bal will portray a villainous role, yet her character is complex, hinting at potential moral conflicts, suggesting she may not embody pure evil. Additionally, Galactus has been confirmed as another antagonist in this movie. According to Perez, Shalla-Bal might not reappear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films after ‘First Steps’.

Alex Perez: She’s set to be a complex villain, similar to Galactus. However, it seems unlikely that she’ll make another appearance in the movie series.

Additionally, he subtly indicated that the upcoming film may introduce a theory called “the fifth dimension,” potentially serving as a crucial distinguishing factor between its universe and the primary Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-616). Although he didn’t elaborate, it seemed as though this could be a nod to the groundbreaking work of Jack Kirby, the renowned Fantastic Four co-creator, who was celebrated for his cosmic and multidimensional storytelling.

Alex Perez: In the film, there’s something referred to as the fifth dimension. Let me leave you all with an Easter egg from Kirby to mull over for a bit.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it’s worth noting that the concept of the fifth dimension was previously introduced within the framework of ‘What If…?’. This fifth dimension represents a more advanced plane of existence, where the Watchers dwell. It encompasses the Observational Plane, a vantage point from which Uatu surveys various universes within the Multiverse.

As a passionate cinephile, I can’t help but share some exciting news about the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Towards the end of his discussion, Perez hinted at the inclusion of iconic adversaries from the Fantastic Four comic book universe. Yet, there’s a question mark over whether the Council of Reeds—a multiverse collection of Reed Richards alter-egos—will feature in this film. What he is certain about, though, is that our beloved Reed will be attempting to reach out to other dimensions. (Check out our theory here.)

As for Galactus, Perez isn’t sure if his backstory will be delved into within ‘The Fantastic Four’ or any upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
