Disney+ Surges with 800K New Subscribers in North America

Elon Musk’s company, X, is presently rejoicing over the fact that Disney+ has seen a decrease of around 700,000 subscribers; however, it’s important to delve deeper into the specifics.

Looking at Disney’s earnings report for their first quarter ending December 28, 2024, you will find out that Disney+ added approximately 800,000 subscribers from the United States and Canada during this period.

The decline in earnings is due to performances in foreign markets. At the same time, Disney’s income per subscription increased on average. Furthermore, Hulu managed to acquire more subscribers as well. Combined, Disney+ and Hulu amassed close to one million new subscribers altogether.

Previously, there were 178 million combined Disney+ and Hulu subscribers, marking a growth of 0.9 million compared to Q4 fiscal 2024. However, when considering only Disney+, the number stands at 125 million, representing a decrease of 0.7 million from Q4 fiscal 2024.

It’s noteworthy that the film “Deadpool & Wolverine” was made available on Disney+ on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. This could potentially be connected to the increase in North American subscribers.
