Following Tyler Hoechlin’s departure from “Superman & Lois,” David Corenswet steps forward to assume the role of Superman in James Gunn’s DC Universe.
Tyler Hoechlin made his first appearance on TV’s “Supergirl” on The CW, then played the lead role in “Superman & Lois” for four seasons after the “Crisis”. This version of Superman is arguably the best since the original Christopher Reeve film. The final episode of “Superman & Lois” was skillfully executed and left many viewers teary-eyed.
This past weekend, “Superman & Lois” won the Dan Curtis Legacy Award at the Saturn Awards. The award was handed over by George Newbern to actors Tyler Hoechlin and the show’s creators, Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing.

What did Tyler Hoechlin say about David Corenswet as Superman?
Ebaster caught up with Hoechlin who shared his excitement for David Corenswet:
I’m thrilled to finally embark on this journey with this character, as I’ve been eagerly anticipating the experience since its inception. What started as a couple of episodes has grown into eight years, and I can hardly contain my excitement for when I get to hand over the reins. I have high expectations for how they will handle it, given their talent. I’m an ardent Guardians of the Galaxy fan, so I can hardly wait to see what James Gunn has created. David Corenswet sent me a thoughtful message before filming began, and he seems like a genuinely classy individual. I wish him, Rachel, Nick, and the entire cast the best of luck. And for the fans too! I hope this movie will be the standout film of the year.
Elizabeth Tulloch wishes best of luck
After the final episode, Elizabeth Tulloch extended her well wishes to Rachel Brosnahan as she takes on the role of Lois Lane in the upcoming series.
Wishing you all the success in the world to @jamesgunn, the team, and most notably to @rachelbrosnahan – I’m confident you’ll shine as Lois! Can’t wait to see your fantastic performance. Enjoy every moment of it – I certainly did when I was part of it!
This weekend, Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin are set to attend Orlando MegaCon, where they’ll join a panel discussing “Superman & Lois”. Additionally, fans will have opportunities for interactions such as meet-and-greets and photo sessions.
James Gunn’s Superman gets released on July 11, 2025.
