Following the controversy that led to Roseanne Barr‘s dismissal from her ABC show in 2018, it appears she is making a return to television. Roseanne herself announced a new series she co-wrote with longtime producer Allan Stephan, as reported by Variety.
In conversation with the mentioned publication, Barr disclosed that her upcoming project encompasses approximately 4 to 6 episodes. She described it as a blend between “The Roseanne” and “The Sopranos.
The upcoming series, as suggested by the article, revolves around a character portraying an Alabama farmer. Contrary to his role of protecting the U.S. from drug cartels and China, this individual is involved in cultivating and distributing illicit substances such as psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana.
In conversation about the topic, Barr indicated that it was “foolish and far-fetched.” Meanwhile, she revealed that the show will incorporate controversial ideas and a generous amount of strong language.
In a candid disclosure, the seasoned actress shared that she resides with her daughter, son-in-law, and their six kids on a rural property. Notably, they often have sheep roaming freely within their residence. She explained that this lifestyle mirrors her role as a farmer residing in Hawaii.
In our conversation, I shared an intriguing analogy, “They’re saving America through guns, faith, petty misdemeanors, and substance abuse – it’s reminiscent of the unique storytelling style seen in Coen Brothers’ films.” Later, I also disclosed that our upcoming project will feature a family dynamic akin to the Conners from Roseanne. As a lifestyle expert, I strive to bring you relatable insights into contemporary culture and trends, and this is just one example of how we’re blending pop culture references with engaging storytelling.
The well-known actress was supposedly questioned if she would rejoin ABC should they express interest in this project, to which she responded bluntly, “Absolutely not.” It remains uncertain whether the show will be picked up by another network; according to reports, she expressed indifference either way.
The actress expressed her desire to receive a substantial compensation for reviving yet another struggling television network, having allegedly accomplished this feat twice for ABC. She also hinted at potential interference in her affairs, stating that she remains unsure as to how they would manage to avoid meddling in her business; time will tell.
Barr added that if not, she would go somewhere else and put it on her own website.
