Naomi Ackie Wants to Return to ‘Star Wars’ as a Jedi

Actress Naomi Ackie expresses eagerness to resume her role as Jannah in the upcoming “Star Wars” movie, tentatively titled “New Jedi Order.” During an interview at Sundance for her film “Sorry, Baby,” Ackie showed enthusiasm when asked about potentially rejoining the “Star Wars” universe.

Even though she maintained a playful tone, it was evident that her excitement shone through. Laughing, she quipped, “Star Wars, let’s get organized! If they reach out, we’ll check if I’m available.” In the movie The Rise of Skywalker, Ackie’s character, Jannah, was a former stormtrooper who took charge of a secretive group living on Kef Bir’s moon.

The movie seemed to imply a potential relationship between her and Lando, implying she could be his child, although this theory is less emphasized now. More significantly, it appears that Jannah may possess abilities related to the Force, positioning her as a likely contender for training as a future Jedi character.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I can’t help but wonder about the potential impact of Jannah in the rebuilding of the Jedi Order, given her possible Force sensitivity, similar to Finn. If it turns out that she and her stormtrooper comrades possess this unique ability, they could be instrumental in establishing the core of Rey’s new Jedi community. The return of Jannah as a key character would align perfectly with the narrative, and fans, including myself, would eagerly anticipate seeing more of her role unfold, particularly as the Jedi Order regains its strength.

The buzz surrounding the New Jedi Order persists and intensifies, as numerous fans, among them Ackie, eagerly anticipate the next chapter in the sequel trilogy. It would be a pity if the upcoming film fails to reintroduce characters we’ve grown attached to from earlier installments.
