Sterling K Brown Reveals How He and Paradise Co-Star James Marsden Used His Hidden Talent to Pass the Time on Set

In the television show “Paradise,” Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden display an intriguing on-screen relationship. Behind the scenes, Brown cherishes many delightful moments spent with Marsden, especially the times they shared laughing and playing around during filming.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the American Fiction actor mentioned that he was always singing. Later, he complimented Marsden, expressing his belief that Marsden is a far superior singer compared to himself.

In a nod to James Marsden’s exceptional singing ability, Brown stated, “James is able to harmonize beautifully. I said, ‘James, I can handle the melody.’ He agreed and then added that beautiful harmony, making me seem like a more talented singer than I truly am.

For those unfamiliar, Marsden is often applauded for his exceptional contributions to musicals such as Hairspray, leaving listeners spellbound with his powerful vocals. On the other hand, Brown is similarly recognized for infusing a performer’s spirit and charisma into their roles on stage.

In conversation, Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul’s star shared an interesting tidbit – he and fellow actor Marsden frequently performed R&B covers together. Brown explained further that while growing up in Oklahoma, Marsden was part of a band and appears to have a vast repertoire of songs readily available.

In this series, Sterling K. Brown takes on the role of Xavier Collins, a Secret Service officer, while Marsden appears as Cal Bradford, a former United States President.

The political thriller series progresses as Cal Bradford, portrayed by Marsden, is discovered deceased at his residence. This tragic event makes Xavier Collins, played by Brown, the main suspect.

Paradise premieres on Hulu on January 28, 2025.
