Quentin Tarantino Reveals Why He Is in No Hurry to Direct His Final Movie; ‘I’ve Been Doing That for 30 Years…’

At this year’s 2025 Sundance Film Festival, renowned director Quentin Tarantino revealed some details about his upcoming movie projects and his focus for the future. During an engaging talk with Elvis Mitchell, he offered intriguing glimpses into both his professional and personal life.

According to Variety, Quentin Tarantino traveled directly from Israel to Utah to participate in an insightful conversation with the well-respected movie critic, who is both an educator and a show host. The schedule for this cinematic dialogue was organized by Mitchell over the weekend on Park City’s Main Street.

At a recent film festival, Elvis Mitchell directly posed the question to Quentin Tarantino about his shift towards writing rather than directing in recent years.

In response to Mitchell’s query, Tarantino expressed that he isn’t rushing into starting production right away. The filmmaker behind Kill Bill mentioned that after spending three decades in Hollywood, he wants to dedicate some time for his son’s approaching birthday celebration.

In one month, my son will be celebrating his 5th birthday, and I have a daughter who is two-and-a-half years old. When I’m in America, I spend my time writing. But when I’m in Israel, I am known as ‘Abba,’ which translates to ‘father.’ This was shared by the director of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.

Quentin Tarantino mentioned that he intends to postpone starting his next project until his son reaches the age of 6. He reasoned that at this age, his son will have a better grasp of what’s happening and be able to appreciate it more. Additionally, he suggested that his last film would serve as a lasting memory for him throughout his life.

The acclaimed film director, who’s known for creating awe-inspiring movies, commented that his daughter is exceptionally intelligent at such a young age.

As a die-hard Quentin Tarantino fan, I can’t help but feel thrilled by the news that he’s taking a break from directing. But fear not, fellow enthusiasts! It seems our beloved maestro is still hard at work, this time penning a play. Can’t wait to see what magical tale unfolds on the stage next!
