If you’re coughing, consider trying a soothing cough drop. Feeling under the weather with a cold? Warm up with a comforting bowl of soup. Both suggestions are quite sensible on their own. However, combining them creates an unexpected scenario. This unusual blend is what we encounter with Progresso’s innovative new product – Soup Drops, chicken noodle soup-flavored lozenges.
General Mills has unveiled an unusual product, which they claim is intended for the ill, during National Soup Month. The company will be launching its first-ever Progresso Soup Drops, and no, this isn’t just a clever nickname for a hidden candy treat. As the press release explains, “It’s soup you can suck on.” Essentially, they are transforming soup into lozenges or drops, providing a unique way to consume soup.
Well, it seems that the guidelines have become less strict, which means companies like General Mills might sell these items without any restrictions. Personally, I can’t resist giving them a try at least once.
In his argument, MC Comings, as Business Unit Director for Progresso at General Mills, justified the creation of this product. He explained that for many years, Progresso Soup has provided comfort on cold or unwell days with its Chicken Noodle variety. When feeling ill, few things are more comforting than a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. Thus, they reasoned, why limit the enjoyment to just a soup bowl? They transformed the delightful flavors of Progresso’s Chicken Noodle Soup into a playful, tasty candy called Soup Drops, offering a unique way to savor the cherished taste anytime and anywhere.
If someone’s eagerly anticipating a butterscotch hard candy, they might be in store for a disappointing food experience that could go down as the least delicious culinary instance in their life.
At present, they’re all out of stock. However, the Soup Drops official website recommends revisiting on Thursday, January 30 at 9 am Eastern Time. That’s your final chance to secure some. If fortune favors you, your order ($2.49 plus an additional 99 cents for shipping) will arrive in a can that resembles the renowned Progresso Soup can, containing 20 individually wrapped candies each. Additionally, every order will include a can of Progresso Traditional Chicken Noodle Soup as a backup, just in case Soup Drops don’t sit well with you and you need a real bowl of soup to recover.
Using a can of soup will likely be the most common, sensible, and logical action for someone who purchases Soup Drops.
