As reported by People magazine, The Family Affair starring Mary J. Blige marks the final installment in a movie trilogy that draws loosely from her numerous hits spanning several decades. This film premiered on June 2023 and follows the lives of characters Kendra and Ben as they intersect at a historically Black college campus, with Mary J. Blige‘s Real Love and Mary J. Blige‘s Strength of a Woman setting the stage for their respective stories.

During an interview with People magazine, the singer expressed that the love story was “beautiful.” She further elaborated by saying she admired both characters because they were “destined for each other.” She continued, expressing her fondness for such a connection whether it occurs in real life or on television.

In the project, Ajiona Alexus takes on Kendra’s role, while Da’Vinci plays Ben. Together, they are portrayed as embarking on a shared life in a new city. As they face escalating family and personal conflicts, they must find a path forward to resolve these tensions.
