Some tunes, especially those from shows like X-Men and video games such as Pac-Man, can become ingrained in your memory. Hearing just a few notes of the X-Men animated theme can instantly pull you away from whatever you’re doing and have you singing along. As for video games, certain melodies make me feel an immediate urge to rush to the nearest arcade. For me, that’s the Pac-Man game with its catchy music. Despite giving my blood pressure a bit of a boost, it remains one of my favorites. The original Pac-Man theme is already great, but I find the remixed version that changes the beat particularly cool (a shoutout to Laughing Squid for this discovery).
At the Lo-Fi Festival in Portland, DJ Keebz amped up the Pac-Man theme for a small audience, generating an enjoyable atmosphere with his music. Surrounding him, people were swaying and grooving to the tunes. On his Instagram account, Keebz disclosed that he utilized two devices, the Roland Global SP404 and Portabalism SC1000, to create this beat. For those who may not know, the Lo-Fi Festival was established during the COVID-19 lockdown period as a means of connecting lo-fi enthusiasts and celebrating laid-back music.
DJ Keebz created a YouTube video featuring the track and mentioned in the comments that he’s currently polishing it up for a complete remix. Frankly, I can’t wait to give it multiple spins all day long.
