A unique installment of the comic book “Alice-san Chi no Iroribata” (Beside the Hearth at Alice-san’s House) was recently published to commemorate the live-action version of the storyline. This special issue appeared in the February 2025 edition of Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine, which hit the shelves on January 20, 2025.
In this additional story, readers get a peek at the events leading up to the final chapter of the manga, which was created by Bunta Kinami. The story centers around Alice, a woman who spent ten years in Tokyo before returning to her small-town roots. One unique aspect of her home is its traditional hearth sunken into the floor, which she finds great joy in cooking on. As she reacquaints herself with her hometown, she reconnects with an old friend named Harumi, and their bond starts to grow stronger again.
Earlier this month, the live-action version of the show made its debut simultaneously on various channels. It initially aired on BS-TBS, TV Kanagawa on the 7th of January, followed by RKB Mainichi Broadcasting and KBS Kyoto on the 11th. Further broadcasts were shown on CBC TV on the 12th and HBC on the 13th of January.
This manga started getting published in Ultra Jump magazine from October 2020, and it ended its run in March 2023. Shueisha compiled the series into four volumes, with the last volume coming out in May 2023. The narrative’s exploration of nostalgia, personal development, and renewed connections struck a chord with readers, resulting in a devoted fanbase.
Besides being recognized for Alice-san Chi no Iroribata, Kinami is also well-known for RWBY: The Official Manga. This manga ran on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform from December 2018 to June 2020. Over this period, it was published across three volumes and distributed internationally by Viz Media as part of its Shonen Jump subscription.
Readers who love the interwoven tale of Alice-san Chi no Iroribata can savor this unique chapter as they follow the live-action adaptation, enriching their experience with an extra layer of depth. The manga’s emotional storyline and cultural nuances remain compelling in both its source and transformed versions, continuing to enthrall readers worldwide.
