Oscar Winner Ke Huy Quan Dreams of Playing Diabolical Villain, Cites Bond Franchise and Heretic as Inspirations

Ke Huy Quan is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to take on a villainous character in an upcoming project. The Academy Award-winning actor has expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of the 007 franchise and Hugh Grant’s portrayal in Heretic, with aspirations of bringing such a menacing antagonist to life.

He expressed his desire for a role that challenges him, such as a villain like those seen in Bond films or the character Hugh Grant played in Heretic. In essence, he yearns to step out of his comfort zone and take on a wicked, diabolical persona – something he finds exciting.

Additionally, Quan shared his desire to explore genres beyond action, as he’s spent numerous years designing action sequences and fights for movies such as X-Men (2000) and The One (2001).

Quan expressed that he doesn’t want to be seen solely as an action star. Instead, he hopes his performances will be appreciated for their action elements while still recognizing him as a versatile actor. He plans to progress steadily and enjoys the fact that acting allows him to portray diverse characters. He appreciates the distinct personalities of Loki’s Ouroboros, EEAAO’s Waymond, and Love Hurts’ Marvin Gable, each one unique from the other.

After his award-winning portrayal in Everything Everywhere All at Once, earning him an Academy Award and Golden Globe, Quan is set to take on the role of Marcin Gable, a former hitman turned realtor, in the Universal action thriller Love Hurts directed by Jonathan Eusebio. This film premieres on February 7.

Additionally, Quan is set to star in an action thriller titled “Fairytale in New York,” directed by Jalmari Helander. In this upcoming project, he will portray a humble cab driver who takes on a group of criminals on Christmas Eve in order to retrieve his children’s stolen Christmas gifts.
