The recent visit by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Los Angeles wildfire victims has been criticized as being done for popularity or attention (clout). Yet, their friend, José Andrés, recently commended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their hard work in this matter.
The regal pair, residing in Montecito, California, approximately 90 miles from Los Angeles, are said to have aided wildfire recovery by contributing necessary resources, reaching out to affected families, and preparing meals alongside World Central Kitchen (WCK).
In an interview with People magazine, Andrés, referring to Megan and Harry as his “friends,” expressed his happiness that they often attend events, just like many others do. The founder of World Central Kitchen and restaurateur notes that while the couple have a strong association with his organization, they receive more attention in Britain than they do in America.
The Duke and Duchess were given the option to stay out of a particular cause, yet they chose to get involved on their own accord. On January 10th, this generous couple made a visit to the WCK site in Pasadena, offering aid to those affected by the Eaton Fire. Andrés found their action truly inspiring.
As a lifestyle expert, I can share my experience from that day when my colleagues and I offered comfort to those affected. We embraced individuals who were familiar or strangers to us, simply providing emotional support. In their moments of need, they sought someone to hear them out and offer a comforting touch.
Andres shared that these famous individuals brought comfort to both the victims and emergency workers by weeping with them and offering emotional solace. Moreover, he emphasized that any individual who stands by those who have suffered the loss of their homes, regardless of fame, deserves admiration and gratitude.
He said to the media outlet, “Anyone who managed to attend, even if just for an hour, I consider them truly remarkable individuals.” Additionally, Andrés stated that Meghan and Harry were not seeking attention from the cameras; rather, they have been actively involved in charitable work where there’s minimal public exposure.
