First Arab Female Jedi Cut from Star Wars: ‘Skeleton Crew’

In the Star Wars series, ‘Skeleton Crew‘, it was discovered that they intended to feature a Jedi flashback scene, starring Arab actress Yasmine Al Massri as the character.

If you haven’t watched the final episode, spoilers follow.

In the series “Skeleton Crew“, Jude Law’s character, Jod Na Nawood, possesses force abilities and is adept with a lightsaber. During the last episode, it is disclosed that Jod was tutored by a Jedi who perished before his eyes, an event which set Jod on his journey towards becoming a pirate.

Actress Yasmine Al Massri recently shared on her social platforms that she portrayed a Jedi character in a scene from Skeleton Crew, which ultimately didn’t make it to the film’s final version.

“Post-Order 66 Jedis trying to survive”

In her Instagram post, Yasmine Al Massri portrayed a Jedi character who, as confirmed by the showrunners, met her end following Order 66. Christopher Ford revealed to Collider that Jod’s character was discovered by the Jedi after Order 66: “The storyline centers around surviving Jedis trying to evade time post-Order 66.

From the video Jasmine Al Massri shared, it appears that the flashback scene could involve an intense battle sequence. In the clip, Jasmine is seen practicing with a lightsaber, working under a fight choreographer, and suggesting she sustained a blaster wound. This might imply that a group attacked her, killing her in front of Jod, who was forced to survive alone afterwards.

It’s uncertain why that particular scene was eliminated, but it could be due to concerns that it might have portrayed Jod in a more compassionate light, potentially reducing his image as an antagonist or rogue. The question remains whether Jod underwent a genuine redemption by the end of the series.

Will there be a Skeleton Crew Season 2?

If a second season materializes, there’s a possibility that the cut Jedi scene might be included. However, Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about a new season yet, and ratings have been less than stellar. There are whispers that characters from “Skeleton Crew” may show up in Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film. Given how well-received Jude Law’s character, Jod Na Nawood, was in “Skeleton Crew”, it seems logical for him to reappear again.
