Initially, things appeared to progress smoothly, but when Dempsey requested a salary increase, the studio wasn’t inclined to agree. Instead, they proposed a lower offer than what he was aiming for. Despite almost accepting, Dempsey held his ground and insisted on more. Ultimately, neither party was willing to compromise, leading to the deal collapsing.
In the script, they chose to keep Sidney’s husband, Mark, but changed his last name rather than replacing him with a new actor. This allowed them to progress the story smoothly without the need for Patrick Dempsey in the role.
Unfortunately, it seems the studio couldn’t fulfill his requests, disappointing those who were eagerly awaiting another appearance from him. That’s sometimes the reality of the entertainment industry in Hollywood.
