‘It Was Time’: Cameron Diaz Opens Up About Her Acting Comeback, Reveals How Costar Jamie Foxx Influenced Her Decision

Actress Cameron Diaz returns to acting with the action-comedy called “Back in Action,” as she recently appeared on “The Graham Norton Show” alongside her co-star Jamie Foxx, discussing her return to acting following a ten-year hiatus.

She confided in the host, ‘I’m back now, and it’s all thanks to Jamie.’ For the past decade, she had been neglecting everything and turning down opportunities. But when this role came along, she felt, ‘Perhaps it’s time.’

In her continued admiration, Diaz expressed that she wouldn’t willingly spend ten hours away from her loved ones if not for the opportunity to collaborate with the “most exceptional talent” in the entertainment industry, that being Jamie Foxx.

Jennifer Aniston, famed for her roles in movies like “Charlie’s Angels” and “The Holiday,” expressed her thankfulness and felt fortunate that paths to extraordinary projects continued to present themselves, despite her decade-long hiatus from the industry. In this extended period, she was able to prioritize her family obligations.

Instead, we could say: She realized it was her moment to return to the spotlight. Reflecting on this, she thought, “If I don’t seize this chance again, if I retreat, I would be acting foolish.” Gratefully, the actress chose to take up the opportunity and began a new chapter in her career.

Speaking with Empire magazine, I’ve shared my feelings about the Netflix action-comedy project – while I’m grateful for the opportunity, it’s tough to predict if I’ll reprise my role in a future film installment. As a professional, I believe it’s essential to maintain control over my career choices and make decisions that align with my creative vision.

In summary, as per the movie’s official description, the story revolves around Emily (played by Diaz) and Matt (Foxx), who were once CIA spies. Due to their hidden identities being unveiled, they are compelled to return to espionage activities. Alongside them, actors such as Glenn Close, Tom Brittney, and Andrew Scott, among others, make up the film’s cast.

Back in Action was released by Netflix on January 17, 2025.
