In this article, there’s a brief sneak peek of a well-known star appearing in the first episode of ‘Severance’ season two. If you prefer not to know about such surprises beforehand, then it’s recommended that you watch the episode only if your memories are separated (severed).
Keanu Reeves’ Severance Season 2 Cameo, Explained
Wow, we didn’t see that coming! The shocking events in Severance’s season two premiere left us speechless, but let me zero in on something particularly surprising – Keanu Reeves’ voice cameo in the first episode of Severance season 2. If you missed it, don’t worry; many might have. It wasn’t just that his name wasn’t listed in the credits; it was also because his appearance occurred during one of the episode’s most absurd scenes. Keanu Reeves lent his voice to the claymation Lumon building during the new employee welcome video, adding an unexpected twist to the already preposterous scene.
Keanu Reeves Voices the Lumon Building in Severance Season 2
The Innies have returned to Lumon, and while we’re unsure about the reasons or details, it’s clear that the company is treating the “Macrodat Uprising” as a significant concern. Lumon has made substantial changes to its upper floor, and if you harbor any doubts regarding Mr. Milchick’s authenticity, he has prepared a new video for the Innies that promises to alleviate your concerns.
That humorous corporate video is like a Rankin/Bass-style claymation production, where it humorously depicts why four disgruntled employees escaped from their mundane office environment. The narrative unfolds as a tale of frustration, motivation, and affection, narrated by an animated version of the 501 branch building, which is also revealed to be the original Lumon headquarters that Kier Eagan constructed.
The significance of that vital structure was undeniably grand, and it seemed to demand a celestial endorsement. Remarkably, Severance secured one from none other than our beloved Keanu Reeves, who breathed life into the Lumon building on screen. And true to form, he delivered an exceptional portrayal of a building teeming with grinning automatons. Similarly, Sarah Sherman from Saturday Night Live brought her Water Tower character to life in the series, also delivering an impressive performance as a smiling monster within the Lumon structure. (The episode did acknowledge her role in the closing credits.)
Could Keanu Reeves Appear Again in Severance? (As a Person and Not as the Lumon Building)
If these are the sole appearances of either character on Severance, we won’t grumble. Having Keanu Reeves as the voice of the Lumon building is far superior to no Keanu Reeves at all. Moreover, we’re intrigued by what these voice appearances might signify. In Severance, both Keanu Reeves and Sarah Sherman are employees of Lumon. The company seems to trust Reeves’ unidentified character enough to let him narrate the Macrodat Uprising, a story that Lumon doesn’t necessarily appreciate.
Might it be possible one day to discover that Keanu Reeves holds a significant position within the world’s most malevolent corporation as portrayed in the series “Severance”? We can only hope for such an intriguing revelation. However, should he simply be providing his voice talents for the sinister Lumon building, and we continue to see more of these ominous videos, that would suffice as well.
