Exciting News: New ‘Goonies’ and ‘Gremlins’ Movies Are Coming!

It’s learned that Warner Bros. is developing new movies for both Goonies and Gremlins.

According to Deadline’s report, Warner Bros.’ future film lineup in 2025 may include a new “Gremlins” movie directed by Christopher Columbus and a “Goonies” script that is being developed at the moment.

Excitement builds ahead for several upcoming projects in the world of entertainment: “The Search for Gollum,” “Practical Magic 2,” DC’s “Clayface” and “Supergirl,” Drew Goddard’s forthcoming script for a new “Matrix,” a fresh take on “Gremlins” from Christopher Columbus, and a “Goonies” adaptation.

What is going on with Gremlins?

Previously, the last time we encountered the characters from “Gremlins” was in their animated prequel series, which spanned over two seasons. The storylines included “Secrets of the Mogwai” and “The Wild Batch.

In terms of real-life adaptations, the sequel to Gremlins, titled “Gremlins 2: The New Batch,” came out in 1990, predating the original Gremlins movie from 1984.

What is known about Goonies 2?

For quite some time now, there have been whispers about a second installment of “The Goonies”. However, recently, some authentic news has surfaced – though it’s still not certain yet. As of now, only a draft for “Goonies 2” is available, implying that the project remains a long way from getting the final go-ahead.

Lately, Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton, who portrayed Mouth and Stef in the initial movie, declared that Goonies II won’t be produced. Since there’s just a story outline at present, it seems unlikely that any of the original actors have been reached about the possibility of a sequel.

It’s been rumored that the original actors might be making a comeback for the upcoming sequel. This sequel seems to revolve around their children embarking on a fresh journey. The original cast consisted of Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, and Ke Huy Quan.

The Goonies is also back in theaters Sunday and Monday for the film’s 40th anniversary.
