In the current “All In” period, DC Comics is stirring things up by giving a new purpose to an established team. Starting this April, the publishing house will reintroduce the character Josiah Power and his team, the Power Company, for a vital new assignment.
In issue #1 of the comeback series, “The Power Company: Recharged,” our protagonist, the metahuman attorney Josiah Power, takes center stage to combat the rising wave of prejudice towards individuals with superpowers.
In this return installment, the narrative is penned by Bryan Edward Hill and features artwork by Khary Randolph and Alitha Martinez. The plot continues from “DC Power: Rise of the Power Company,” where Josiah finds himself grappling with the repercussions of anti-metahuman propaganda while also dealing with his own powers acting unpredictably.
As a passionate cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’m spearheading a revamped Power Company unit. The goal? To counteract the looming dangers confronting metahumans and apprehend an elusive serial killer who’s been terrorizing the streets of Atlanta. My team is stacked with powerhouses, including none other than Black Lightning, Jace Fox’s reimagined Batman, the Signal, and Vixen. Our mission? To safeguard metahumans and rebuild public trust by standing united against the forces that seek to exploit them.
As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but see parallels between real-life events and the plots of some gritty superhero movies. You see, a significant aspect of our current mission is dealing with the aftermath of Amanda Waller’s manipulations. Her crusade to control metahumans was so ruthless that she manufactured false videos depicting heroes acting out of control, thereby fueling fear and violence against them across the globe. Although her deceit was eventually uncovered, the harm inflicted on their reputation remains a lingering shadow. Even my own family has been touched by this darkness; my nephew became a tragic casualty in Waller’s twisted game.
This newly formed group of heroes is prepared to tackle the mistrust Waller sowed. By forging strong bonds within communities, they aim to demonstrate that metahumans pose no danger. However, this task won’t be straightforward. The unpredictable powers of Josiah and the appearance of new, potentially hazardous metahumans complicate their endeavor.
Title #1 of “The Power Company: Revitalized” offers excitement and optimism as Josiah Power and his squad work tirelessly to bridge the divide between metahumans and everyday people. This standalone issue, releasing on April 30th, 2025, is a crucial read for fans keeping up with DC’s ever-changing universe.
