Vivaldi Biopic ‘Primavera’ Finds Distributor, Reveals New Image

A fresh film called “Primavera” is creating excitement as it tells the story of renowned Italian Baroque composer and violinist, Antonio Vivaldi, who crafted the popular work, “The Four Seasons.” This movie, distributed by Memento International, was filmed in both Rome and Venice, marking the first directorial effort for Damiano Michieletto, a well-known opera director.

Warner Bros. is responsible for releasing the film in Italy, while Diaphana Distribution handles its distribution in France. Memento International has secured pre-sales deals for several regions: Cineart will distribute it in Benelux, X Verleih in Germany and Austria, A Contracorriente Films in Spain, Frenetic in Switzerland, and M2 Films in Poland. Talks are ongoing to finalize distribution agreements for other territories.

The screenplay for “Primavera” was penned by Ludovica Rampoldi, who is well-known for her contributions to “The Traitor” and “Gomorrah” – both series. It derives influence from Tiziano Scarpa’s renowned novel ‘Stabat Mater.’

18th-century Venice serves as the backdrop for this film, where we follow the story of 20-year-old violin prodigy named Cecilia. Living in the Pièta orphanage, Cecilia sees marriage as her only potential means of escape. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Antonio Vivaldi, a gifted and driven composer who becomes her violin mentor. Under his tutelage, Cecilia discovers the strength to challenge her seemingly predestined future.

In this production, Insolia Key plays Cecilia, while Riondino Michele assumes the character of Vivaldi. Director Michieletto, renowned for his work with prestigious opera houses such as Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, London’s Royal Opera House, and Venice’s Teatro La Fenice, is at the helm.

The film’s main team consists of Daria D’Antonio serving as the cinematographer, Walter Fasano taking care of editing, Fabio Massimo Capogrosso working on the score, Gaspare De Pascali responsible for production design, and Maria Rita Barbera in charge of costumes.

Spring is a joint effort between Warner Bros. Entertainment Italia and Indigo Film, recognized for films like “The Great Beauty” and “Youth,” both directed by Paolo Sorrentino. This venture has been backed by Regione Lazio PR FESR and the Veneto Film Commission Foundation.
