Kim Kardashian doesn’t shy away from advocating for others, particularly those who courageously put themselves in harm’s way to rescue others. Recently, the CEO of Skims spoke out regarding the compensation of firefighters, acknowledging their daring and awe-inspiring work.
Kardashian shared on Instagram Stories that she was feeling saddened by the LA fires, and at the same time, expressed gratitude towards the brave firefighters and emergency personnel who safeguarded the city.
Later on, she talked about having spent numerous hours and observing her city being engulfed in flames over the past week. The television personality revealed that she’s interacted with numerous firefighters who tirelessly work through the night, exerting every ounce of their energy to protect our neighborhood.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but extend my heartfelt gratitude to @calfire, the County Fire and Los Angeles City Fire departments. Your tireless efforts in safeguarding lives, homes, and property across our city are truly commendable. Notably, at each of Los Angeles’ 5 fire sites, there stand hundreds of brave incarcerated firefighters who selflessly risk their own lives for ours. Their courage is unparalleled and their service, invaluable. #FireHeroes
The business owner disclosed that they’re pulling around-the-clock duty on both the Palisades fire and Eaton fire. They mentioned that their compensation is minimal, yet they risk their lives in these situations, with some unfortunately losing their lives. They expressed, “I want to demonstrate to our community that they can rely on us as first responders now. To me, they are true heroes.
She pointed out that firefighters who are imprisoned earn just $1 per hour for risking their lives on duty, a rate unchanged since 1984. Despite escalating fires and numerous fatalities, this wage has not been adjusted for inflation.
This year, a Kardashian celebrity announced plans to increase their wage to $5 per hour, only for it to be rejected at the last minute. In response, the entrepreneur appealed to the governor, advocating for a change in this decision.
Kardashian additionally thanked the Ventura Training Center managed by @calfire for shielding the neighborhood when it ignited during the week. She went on to say, “These are previously imprisoned firefighters who wish to keep helping our community as firefighters.
The influential entrepreneur concluded by penning that thanks to legislation passed by “@antirecidivismcoalition,” they are now eligible to have their sentences reduced. Moreover, he highlighted that these felonies would be wiped clean from their records, in recognition of their fire service. Upon their return home, they would even secure high-paying jobs within the fire departments, earning six figures.
