Carol Kane, Broadway’s Madame Morrible, Applauds ‘Brilliant’ Wicked Film Adaptation

2025 saw veteran actress Carol Kane expressing her affection for the Wicked movie version at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards held on January 8.

In different Wicked performances, Kane, famed as Madame Morrible, expressed her admiration for the film, stating, “I found the movie absolutely fantastic… everyone did a fantastic job in it.

Over a span of almost twenty years, Kane has been closely associated with Wicked. Her journey began during the national tour of the show in 2005 where she portrayed Madame Morrible. Later in 2006, she transferred this role to Broadway, performing from January until November.

From February 2007 through January 2008, her adventure persisted alongside the initial Los Angeles troupe. Later in the same year, she reappeared. Additionally, she became part of the first San Francisco ensemble, performing up until March 2009.

After all these years working on the show, Kane found himself astonished once more by the sights in the movie, as he expressed.

The movie version of Wicked showcases a remarkable ensemble of actors. Michelle Yeoh is portraying Madame Morrible, while Cynthia Erivo steps into the role of Elphaba and Ariana Grande assumes the part of Glinda. Additionally, Jonathan Bailey plays Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum brings the Wizard to life, and Ethan Slater takes on Boq.

According to Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West,” the movie has been divided into two sections. The first part, titled “Wicked: Part One,” is currently available for purchase, while the second part, named “Wicked: For Good,” is set to premiere in theaters on November 21.
