The Pacific Palisades house where Matthew Perry sadly passed away in October 2023 managed to withstand the destructive, ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. This was confirmed by the new owner of the property, Anita Verma-Lillian, through an Instagram post on Friday, January 10.
She gratefully acknowledged the courageous firefighters, wonderful neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their assistance, resilience, and comfort provided during this difficult period, as expressed in her message.
A spokesperson for Verma-Lillian confirmed the report that the house of the deceased Friends actor was spared during the fire, noting that the realtor who had sold the property to her, Brooke Elliot Laurinkus, assisted in keeping an eye on the property and safeguarding it from the fires during the calamity.
Following her gratitude towards Laurinkus for “regularly informing us about all the latest developments,” Verma-Lillian mentioned that Laurinkus would also provide assistance to those seeking temporary accommodation during this period.
She conveyed that our sympathies are with all those impacted by the unfortunate event, and we aspire to conquer it collectively for healing, safety, and reconstruction of what was destroyed. The Palisades will forever carry a sentimental value for us.
Last year, I became the owner of this property through an off-the-radar transaction, approximately a year following the untimely death of Perry due to a ketamine overdose.
On October 31, 2024, Verma-Lillian shared that she had bought a house and intended to use it for vacations. She expressed her commitment to preserving the actor’s happiness in her new property, in a post on Instagram.
In 2020, as reported by The New York Times, Perry acquired a property that spanned approximately 3,500 square feet. Previously, a source shared with People that the actor had carried out renovations on the house and was very content there before his passing. Perry often referred to this place as “heaven,” the source noted further.
