Will Prince William Skip Jimmy Carter’s Funeral To Celebrate Kate Middleton’s Birthday? Here’s What Sources Revealed

On January 9th, Kate Middleton, Prince William‘s spouse, will mark her first birthday following her cancer-free diagnosis. In honor of this joyous event, the Prince of Wales has made a special request to King Charles – permission to miss Jimmy Carter’s funeral and instead spend the day with his family.

2024 was particularly challenging for Middleton, as she fought cancer for almost nine months. In light of this, the Duke of Cornwall wants to create a memorable experience for his wife.

Instead, it’s clear that the King frequently participates in government functions, such as funerals, suggesting he would have preferred the crown prince to do the same and make an appearance.

As reported by Daily Mail, it seems more fitting that the current Prince of Wales, rather than the one fourteenth in line to the throne, would have been the better choice. The royal source added that asking Prince William to support Carter might not have been an option, as Thursday is Kate’s birthday and typically considered a family event.

In the meantime, since Prince William is unavailable, Prince Edward will step in to attend Carter’s funeral service, where he will be honorably laid to rest.

Currently, Prince Edward is placed 14th in line of succession to the British throne, though he was born as the fourth child of Queen Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have been well-prepared to assume the duties of the monarch should the Prince of Wales require it due to his cancer diagnosis.
