Fans’ excitement for Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, a prequel film, has never been higher. Notably, this production is being directed by Oscar-winning director James Mangold, and he’s even contributing to the scriptwriting process for the project.
According to reports, Mangold mentioned that the prequel aims to present an original story regarding the origin of The Force, avoiding over-reliance on the established tales from the film series.
During an interview with MovieWeb, the director mentioned that the key element for him is having the freedom to innovate when creating something fresh. Mangold also shared that he and screenwriter Beau Willimon have been developing a Star Wars-related script, and they’ll wait to see how things progress.
The filmmaker disclosed to the media outlet that “The Star Wars movie will be set 25,000 years before any previously known Star Wars films.” Mangold expressed his excitement about delving into this era as it’s a place he’s long wanted to explore and was captivated by during his teenage years.
He also added, “I’m finding it hard to be tied down by so much history right now that seems nearly impossible to change, and it’s difficult to satisfy everyone.
The venture, as detailed in an article from Deadline, was first unveiled during the Star Wars Celebration held in London in 2023. This project appears to be inspired by a 2012 comic book series that explores the beginnings of the Jedi Order.
Regarding the forthcoming movie, it was announced in April that Willimon would collaborate with Mangold as a co-writer. At this point, viewers must maintain their excitement since a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
