Analyst Forecasts Nintendo Switch 2 2025 Sales

Nintendo hasn’t publicly unveiled its next-gen console yet, but they have promised to do so before their current financial year concludes on March 31, 2025.

This week at CES, accessory manufacturer Genki is demonstrating what they claim is a precise reproduction of the system, prior to a rumored release date in April 2025.

The Nintendo Switch 2 logo may also have leaked this week.

Last December, Circana announced that the Nintendo Switch had managed to outperform the lifetime sales of Sony’s PlayStation 2.

Among all video game consoles in the United States, the Nintendo Switch has climbed to the second spot with a total of 46.6 million units sold, lagging slightly behind the Nintendo DS which holds the top position.

According to Mat Piscatella, the executive director of video games at market research company Circana, he predicts that approximately 4 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles will be sold in the U.S. during 2025 if it’s launched in the first part of that year.

Even though there were high expectations for the console’s successful launch, the analyst predicts that the PS5 will be the top-selling console in the U.S. this year.

Piscatella posted on Bluesky: ‘Given that a potential announcement might be forthcoming (although it’s uncertain), I predict that Nintendo’s next gaming device will sell around 4.3 million units in the US by 2025, assuming a first-half launch. This would represent about one third of all video game console hardware sold that year, excluding portable PC consoles.’

Given that it seems a new Nintendo hardware product might be announced soon (though we never know for sure), I estimate that 4.3 million units will be sold in the U.S. by 2025, assuming a first-half launch. This would make up around one third of all video game console hardware units purchased that year, with sales on PC Portables excluded from this calculation.

He mentioned: ‘Anticipating software limitations due to high initial demand spikes for several months. The number of units sold will undoubtedly depend on the production capacity.’

Circana intends to share a comprehensive 2025 forecast by the end of this month, following the publication of December sales figures for the U.S. market, which will be made available on January 23rd.

As an ardent gaming enthusiast, I’m buzzing with excitement over the imminent release of Nintendo’s new console! Industry experts are forecasting robust sales figures, and there’s even talk about possible supply shortages due to high demand.

With anticipation building, the gaming community is excited to discover how the new system will fare against tough competition in the marketplace.
