As we approach the end of the inaugural season of Creature Commandos, it seems that James Gunn is continuing the tradition set by the Marvel Cinematic Universe by including a little surprise after the credits roll on the final episode.
As a die-hard comic book fan, let me share my excitement about the fresh start of the DC Universe with the debut of Creature Commandos on December 5! To my delight, this thrilling animated series, centered around Amanda Waller’s monster-filled team, earned an astounding 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes upon its premiere. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked, eagerly tuning in for weekly episodes to catch more of the action!
Currently, seven episodes have been released, with the next one airing on January 9, marking the end of the first season. Interestingly, no episodes thus far have featured post-credit scenes. Yet, it’s worth noting that James Gunn has hinted that the final episode will be an exception to this pattern.
In response to a query on Threads about whether the finale would have a post-credits segment, Gunn confirmed this by saying ‘Yes.’ This is a novelty as it’s the first time a project within the DC Universe has incorporated a post-credits scene.

As a fan, I’ve noticed that post-credit scenes often tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it’s worth mentioning that some DC films, such as Suicide Squad, Justice League, Aquaman, Shazam!, and Black Adam, have also featured these scenes. Regrettably, not all of those brief appearances paved the way for subsequent narratives.
There’s some buzz surrounding the after-credit scene in the movie, Creature Commandos. It could turn out to be an entertaining one-off event or perhaps a sneak peek into the storyline of the upcoming second season as it has already been confirmed.
According to Gunn’s remarks, it seems plausible that the forthcoming Superman movie may also feature a playful post-credit scene, eschewing inconclusive storylines.
Spectators are already speculating on potential hidden references. Might they foreshadow the return of the Tin Man, or perhaps a tribute to David Corenswet’s forthcoming Superman? From now until January 9th, we can only ponder the mystery.
