Golden Globes 2025: Jessica Gunning Wins Her First Golden Globe For Baby Reindeer; Says It ‘Changed’ Her Life

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that the honor of the 2025 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role was mine, Jessica Gunning, for my chilling and indelible portrayal of a stalker in the captivating film, Baby Reindeer.

The actress was given the award by Anthony Ramos and Kathy Bates, and their performances in “Misery” had a significant impact on her character portrayal in that particular production.

Following the acceptance of the statue, Gunning playfully mentioned he almost tripped on his way up, teasing that if he had fallen, the audience would’ve caught a glimpse of “what might have been my Emmys” instead.

Later, Gunning compared the joy he felt from winning the prestigious award to how excited he was about getting a hamster for Christmas when he was a child.

Gunning expressed his immense gratitude, stating, “This is an incredible privilege.” He then shared a heartwarming memory from his childhood Christmas when he received a hamster. In the video, he’s seen around 8 years old with a strong Yorkshire accent, repeatedly exclaiming, “I can’t believe this is happening to me! I can’t believe this is happening to me!” His parents had presented him with the furry pet in a cage, inside a bag.

The actress went on to express, “It suddenly struck me this morning that ‘Baby Reindeer’ has served as a constant backdrop for the past year. I still can’t comprehend any of this amazing experience happening to me. All I want to do is express my gratitude to everyone who allowed me to embark on this incredible journey.

Afterward, Gunning expressed gratitude towards her agent and the cast of Baby Reindeer, stating that the show had an impact on her life that she finds hard to put into words.

“So thank you for everything,” she added.

Gunning exclaimed her disbelief, just as her 8-year-old self had when receiving a hamster for Christmas, she finds herself unable to accept this current situation.

In this instance, Gunning received her inaugural Golden Globe nomination, with her category being exceptionally competitive, featuring talented actors such as Liza Colón-Zayas (from The Bear), Hanna Einbinder (Hacks), Dakota Fanning (Ripley), Allison Janney (The Diplomat), and Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country).

Gunning also received an Emmy for her role in September.
