As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for action-packed narratives, I must say that Yabako Sandrovich‘s upcoming manga series has me on the edge of my seat! His deep-rooted background in martial arts and his knack for weaving captivating stories make him an unparalleled storyteller in this genre.
I remember watching Sandrovich and editor Shō Kobayashi testing out a mixed martial arts move during their discussion, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that was almost palpable. It’s clear they are putting their heart and soul into this project, just as they did with the critically acclaimed “Kengan Ashura” and “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?”
Now, I must admit, I’ve always had a soft spot for action movies that leave you on the edge of your seat, but never have I seen a movie critic quite as excited about it as I am right now. In fact, I might even start practicing my own martial arts moves to prepare myself for this upcoming masterpiece!
But remember, folks, if you can’t handle the heat, stay out of the dojo. Or in this case, keep away from my latest DVD collection – it’s about to get real!
On December 27th, I came across a fascinating video shared by Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app’s official YouTube channel, which spotlighted none other than Yabako Sandrovich, the mastermind behind hit series like Kengan Ashura. Although the main focus was on evaluating entries for their ‘Battle Comic Award,’ something truly captivating piqued my interest.
As a devoted fan of Sandrovich’s manga series, I was absolutely thrilled to catch a glimpse into his creative process at 4:19 in the video! It’s fascinating to see him working on his fifth original story, and it’s clear that he’s still as passionate about the craft as ever. What particularly caught my attention was the moment when Sandrovich and editor Shō Kobayashi demonstrated a mixed martial arts move during their discussion. With my background in martial arts myself, I could appreciate the dynamic energy between them and sense the synergy that comes from working closely with like-minded individuals who share the same level of dedication to their craft. I can’t wait to see what this collaboration will bring forth, as Sandrovich continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences worldwide!
The video showcased Sandrovich’s expertise in karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and MMA. Similarly, Kobayashi boasts an impressive martial arts pedigree, having earned third place in a national full-contact karate tournament during his high school years.
We’re about to play a video we referred to earlier, however, please be aware that it doesn’t come with English subtitles. You might need someone fluent in Japanese to assist you in understanding the content.
Sandrovich is widely recognized for debuting the Manga ONE app’s “Kengan Ashura” in 2012, collaborating with artist Daromeon. Following the conclusion of the series in 2018, a follow-up storyline, titled “Kengan Omega,” started in 2019. In 2019, Netflix premiered an anime adaptation, split into two parts. The second season was divided into two parts as well, airing from 2023 up until August of the same year.
As a movie enthusiast, I collaborated with artist MAAM on the hilarious yet fitness-focused film “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?” (2016). This manga has been around for two decades now, with Seven Seas bringing its English translation up to volume 16. The anime adaptation made its debut in 2019 and was available for streaming on Funimation.
In the year 2023, Sandrovich and MAAM introduced a new manga titled “ST✰R: Strike it Rich.” This captivating series seamlessly blends elements of drama and action. Shogakukan published its fourth installment in December, while Comikey manages the English digital edition.
It seems that Sandrovich’s upcoming venture might rekindle the unique fusion of martial arts and narrative he is known for, yet again!
